This title sequence was quite challenging to produce, as it needed to incorporate practical stop-motion animation and digital animation, requiring a large team of animators and compositors that were both in-studio and off-site. The sequence needed to appear seamless and had to capture the quirkiness and irreverence of this comedy from Epix, starring Nick Nolte as a former U.S. President. We were able to achieve this by utilizing existing faux “archival” material of Nolte as President along with his fictional first family, combined with newly created magazines and newspapers highlighting moments of his fictional presidency. These were animated in individual sections, utilizing both digital and stop-motion animation techniques, and were comped and then edited together with a touch of humor and whimsy to an original track composed for the show.
